Well, my 42nd birthday has come and gone. Not too much hoopla (I'm not really big on the hoopla) but a lot of fun and happiness just the same. My official birthday is on the 4th, but we held off celebrating until the Saturday a couple days later.
I started out the day by being at the school by 7:45 a.m. in order to do what I thought would be about 90 minutes of work. Turns out that I was off by about 3 hours. I didn't finish until 12:00 p.m., but this was okay as it gave the kids and April some time to decorate and what not while I was away. When I finally walked in the door around 12:30, I was greeted by two very excited children. They led me into the house by my hands, bag still on my shoulder,
sunglasses still on my face. When I was told to open my eyes, I saw streamers, balloons, the old, beaten-up "Bear in the Big Blue House™" Happy Birthday banner, and a truly spectacular Batman cake. Wow! The cards from everyone were all perfect...Sam's made me laugh and Chloe's made me cry...and the Batcake was as good as it looked. Who's a lucky guy, then?
As has always been the bane of my existence, coming hand-in-hand with my birthday was also the first day of school. This is the first year that both kids are attending school for the whole day, so we all get to walk to school in the morning together. It's pretty nice, I must say. I'm not nearly as freaked out this year as I was this time last year. I think I have a pretty good handle on what's going on in the Library now, and I realised that I just need to solve one problem at a time, not everything at once! Yeah me!
